“To imagine in spite of all, which calls for a difficult ethics of the image: neither the invisible par excellence (the laziness of the aesthete), nor the icon of horror (the laziness of the believer), nor the mere document (the laziness of the learned). A simple image: inadequate but necessary, inexact but true.”
G. DIDI-HUBERMAN, Images malgré tout (2003)
Il Momento – Immagine italiana a tempo
Created and programmed by Simona Bariselli, Il Momento is a web based project, that investigates the limits and the mights of the images used by online Italian newspapers. By indexing images that are currently online, visualising them without any text, at first, I create a disturbing collage, partially programmed and partially random. This is an experimental space to observe the visual language offered by Italian newspapers or, maybe, demanded by viewers.
In 2011 she graduated in Philosophy (BA), with a dissertation titled “World Picture – Photography between illusion and simulation”. In 2014 she graduated in Photography and Visual Design (MA) at NABA/FORMA. Recently she has worked with Francesco Jodice as a studio assistant.
Her research attempts to verify the limits between photographic language, ethics and politics, exploring different codes: from digital technolgies to analogic, from authorial photography to vernacular.
